Make sure that the disc is not damaged, i.e. no scratches, abrasions or cracks, etc., re-download the installer and try again.

Ah, OK. You said Sierra, not Shivers. Anyway, the same applies. Make sure that the CD is in the same drive that you installed it from. Jafa's installers do not install the entire game to the hard drive. It needs the resources from the disc.

With the SCI games it's not the executable that needs to be altered. They have no CD check. It just looks for the config file, which points the game to the resource maps to show it where everything is. When you concatenate the resources, the resource maps have to be changed to reflect this.
