I don't think that jafa did anything with the networking part of the game, given that the server would have long ago been closed. The DOS version is a little more stable, but Sierra never added networking to the DOS version.

I won't guarantee that it will work with your German version, but if this installer does not work, you can try this installer:

I have noticed that the box puzzle can be a bit fussy, but it is completable. Perhaps leave it and come back to it.

I went around this for a while, but did not get anywhere after I spent as much time as I had to spare. The file in question is a Director file. It is in the MSI. Try extracting with 7zip and placing it in the game's folder.

Is the file in your Windows directory?

It does not matter what you name it, so long as it has the .reg extension. You merge it by simply double clicking the file.
