problems with 3d surface in Leisure suit Larry 7

Hi i have installed the package for better viewing the game
on windows xp on the internetsite
http://www.squirtthecat.com/games/leisu ... index.html
But when I try to start the game following error message comes
" ERROR: Failed to initialize Direct3D surface (0x8876086C) "
Please help me to fix that problem?

Hi,
0x8876086C indicates that the Direct3D system doesn't support a feature needed for the game.
1) Download and install the latest video card drivers directly from the ATI/nVidia website.
2) Check that the Windows video mode is 24-bit or 32-bit color.
3) If running XP, download and install the DirectX9c update.

Hi,
Try running dxdiag (C:\Windows\System32\dxdiag.exe)
Check the DirectX Version on the System tab and check the DirectX Features section on the Display tab.
