box puzzle issue

Upon getting to the box puzzle and spinning the rings to make the top pop up, I enter the code from the small piece of metal and the bottle wont come out. Is this a bug?

I have noticed that the box puzzle can be a bit fussy, but it is completable. Perhaps leave it and come back to it.
