game freezes after sierra logo intro

I tried running the game numerous times but I can't seem to get it to work.. I tried your installer but to no avail
I get the intro where larry is crushed by the Sierra logo.. then the screen goes black with the cursor on it (I remember from years ago it's supposed to do this, after the conversation larry's cuffed to the bed on fire) but now after about to moans and grunts the sound freezes and nothing happens anymore..
am I missing something?
